About Us
Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services, Inc. (AARS), one of the longest-standing adult residential substance abuse treatment programs in Alaska, was founded in 1982 by Leonard and Henrietta Nugen.
AARS was located along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway in Wasilla. The property, home to AARS, is referred to as Nugen’s Ranch.
AARS offers work-therapy and life-skills training to its clients. The farm's greenhouse flowers, vegetable fields, and hay production not only benefit the community, but also allows AARS clients to learn about farming and gain a sense of self-worth during their recovery.
AARS relocated Nugen's Ranch and its treatment program to Point Mackenzie in 2012, where it currently occupies 116 acres.
Today, AARS refers to its property as Nugen’s Ranch and makes use of Nugen’s Ranch as a brand name for its produce and products. Our produce is available for purchase at the Palmer’s Friday Fling and Wasilla Market. You can also purchase our eggs at Pet Zoo.
